New Puppy Cries At Night
My new puppy cries when I leave him alone at night and I don't want him sleeping in my bed, what can I do? I am just not getting any sleep myself.
Answer: I recommend all puppies when they are first brought home stay in a size appropriate crate by your bed, so that when they whine to go out to relieve themselves you can hear them and take them out. As for the crying, try to get a crate that fits, nothing too big. then roll up a towel into a size as big as the puppy, stuff it into the crate so that when the puppy goes in she can curl up to it, (it doesn't matter for night time that she only has enough space to turn around and curl up...not for the first little while, the towel or large stuffed toy, simulates the puppies it has just left. A hot water bottle under a blanket for the puppy to lay on helps too. Make a den of the crate and your puppy will sleep well...This only has to happen for the first week or so, then your puppy should be able to be moved to the spot in your house that you want her, still in her crate though.
